Thursday!

Is this your lucky day?

Itzl Alerting

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!
We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone into IAN to write a daily diary for the group!  Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos to share, a cause to promote or news!  (Help us keep IAN going;  you know you have a diary or two in you just waiting to express itself!)
We do have a diary schedule.  But, we are beginners when it comes to writing diaries, so when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date you have in mind!  We have a few first-time diary writers here, it is a great and safe place to start.  If you need someone to fill in your scheduled spot, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

Seven - Eleven is lucky when you are playing craps,   but I had a friend who considered the numbers in the date of his birthday lucky. He would play them in the lotto.
Lots of folks have lucky numbers and others have charms and objects.
When you watch sports you become aware of the many things the athletes do to try to influence the outcome of the competition, like the Jobu shrine in the locker, in the movie " Major League"  or noticing that Tiger woods always wears a red shirt on the final day of a tournament.
Lots of other behaviors are also considered lucky, like kissing The Blarney Stone or  knocking on wood to keep a streak of luck going.
In the theater it is saying "break a leg"  that is a lucky thing to say,  and when I was very young, my mentors taught me to say "I hope I catch a turtle." when ever we went out fishing in Grandpa's boat; this would insure that I could sneak up on, and catch many fish!
So, what is important to you when it comes to being lucky??

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
