Faux policy-maker Sen. John Thune
Congressional Democrats are
not particularly concerned about the delay in the employer mandate implementation in Obamacare, but Republican histrionics are more than making up for their low level of concern. They are so worked up about it (or at least are using the excuse to pretend to be worked up) that they're—gasp—introducing legislation to repeal portions of the bill.
This one is brilliant:
A new resolution from Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) charges President Obama with violating the Constitution by delaying enforcement of ObamaCare's employer health insurance mandate.
Others are at least as ridiculous, but
far less benign.
Senate Republicans' proposals to delay the healthcare law's individual mandate do not address a policy requiring insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions. [...]
“We acknowledge that would be an issue that we would have to be deal with" if the individual mandate were successfully delayed, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) said Wednesday.
Big of him to acknowledge this gaping hole in Republican proposals, no? If this isn't emblematic of the GOP approach to legislating, I don't know what is. All politics to push the buttons with the far-right base, and no policy.
