Our meet-up is scheduled for this coming Saturday, but we still don't have a place.
Hell itself just doesn't offer much that would work for us. But there is an appealing restaurant in Brighton that should suit our needs, even if it's not as centrally located as I might prefer.
The Brighton Bar and Grill (400 W. Main St., Brighton 48116; 810-229-4115) has a nicely varied, not too expensive lunch menu. It's also pretty easy to get to: within a mile of Exit 147, Spencer Road, off of I-96 (thus just a little west of the US-23 interchange).
Several of you made great suggestions which I will be keeping track of for future meet-ups. The Alibi Lounge in Troy and the Union Woodshop in Clarkston seem like very good bets for our next couple of meet-ups, so that we can get back closer to the east side (or at least the I-75 corridor). Damn, but this metro area is big!
Anyway--I will continue to post versions of this diary over the next few days in order to get the word out as best as possible.
Most of the time at these meet-ups, given the two I've attended so far, the agenda is simply to get to know each other. The population varies, and there's been only a little overlap so far. That may well be the case this time around, too, which is fine. Somehow it won't surprise me if we also manage to share a little information about what's happening in our own little corners of the metro area related to MI politics. Networking and info sharing are always to be encouraged, don't you think?
