I'm absolutely stunned that Trayvon Martin's murderer has walked free! I don't for one minute believe that justice was served. I don't believe that the jurors were just doing their jobs, reasonable doubt and all that. I don't be believe for one second that race had nothing to do with the verdict. Trayvon a teenager walking in his father's neighborhood on a rainy evening chatting with a friend on his cell with a pocket full of newly purchased skittles was not looking to be stalked, chased, wrestled to the ground and then shot in the chest at point blank range.
But that's what happened to him. And after his death, during the Zimmerman trial he was called on over and over again to defend himself, which he simply couldn't do. He had no voice, no presence and yet his character, truthfulness, intention, motives and behavior were all called into question. Not only is he being blamed for his own death, he is being blamed for trying to kill the man who shot him. That's what we are being asked to believe. Well, I'm not buying it.
When I saw Trayvon's hoodie on the news and the single bullet hole I knew without a shadow of a doubt that such a clear direct shot could not have happened during a struggle. When I heard that Zimmerman was pounded in an MMA style assault, I knew that he himself had been practicing MMA for some time and how convenient that the kid who made him follow him happened to be really good at MMA too, because Zimmerman, well he just knew those moves.
I find answers in simple questions such as: Who was pumped on adrenalin? Who was an adult man? Who was doing the stalking? Who had the gun? Who had the police training? Who ignored instructions to stand down? Who was trained in MMA? Who fired the gun? Who survived? And then for extreme simplicities sake I ask: Who was 17 years old? Who was walking home? Who was nervously chatting with a friend? Who was in fear? Who was being stalked? Who had no police training? Who was murdered? Whose character was assassinated?
Trayvon Martin was profiled because he was a young African American, he was profiled by an adult man with a loaded gun who had specific instructions by the proper authorities to stand down. He was shot by a man hell bent on looking for trouble. It is a fact that Trayvon was stalked, that he may have tried to defend himself, that he was shot and that he died.
Trayvon's murderer walked free today because racism is alive and well in the southern states of America. Trayvon did not receive justice today, his family did not receive justice today. African Americans in this country did not receive justice today. The message is that if you are African American in this country and are out after dark, you can legally be stalked, and shot at point blank range for trying to defend yourself. And if you die, you're murderer will be acquitted of all charges because it was your fault anyway.
