To be clear right off the bat, this is Samantha writing, NOT KAM. I needed to voice
my opinion, no, my feeling of utter disgust at the verdict in the Zimmerman case.
Trayvon was someone I did not know, nor do I have any information about how bright he was, or talented, or cruel, or kind. All I know was that he was a 17 year child, a child who was raised with a different lifestyle than mine, perhaps thinking a different way than I in a number of ways, and was shot down and murdered by a man who was on the phone with the POLICE who told him to STAY IN THE CAR but decided that he'd take his hatred OUT of the car and get in this kid's way, and kill him.
I think the prosecution was a joke of epic proportion (as I knew in the Simpson case). The fact that the prosecution didn't point out, at least once, that the defense had to open with a sickening joke? Unbelievable. And why they didn't say, since the defense was harping so much on Zimmerman using the "stand your ground" defense, that Trayvon Martin had THE SAME RIGHT, to stand his ground and defend HIMself against this insane white cracker following him, if he had, actually, struck Zimmerman with.... which, the cola or the candy??
Perhaps you only have that right if you're a despicable white guy?
And if the colours were reversed, if a grown man of the Negroid race, had stalked, and shot to death, a Caucasian kid who was carry some sweets and a cold drink? GUESS who'd be the one behind bars for the rest of eternity??
When Florida didn't convict that bitch of a mother for the death of her own child, and the prosecution ignored her utterly bizarre, drug-addled behaviour, was a stab in the heart of everyone who felt strongly, from the evidence presented, that she did it, I crossed Florida off my Channukah card list.
I'm astounded they convicted Ted Bundy, but he was pretty much wearing a sandwich board that read 'I ABSOLUTELY CONFESS TO KILLING THOSE SORORITY WOMEN!! CONVICT ME AND KILL ME NOW!!"
I must resort now to playground language: I just wanna barf. (And have ten minutes alone with Zimmerman, in a locked room. I assure you they'd have to carry him out.)
