According to the WashingtonPost, Reid is open to holding a vote on the 20-week abortion ban.

Follow me beyond the squiggle.
My first reaction is outrage, and outrage it should be. After all, what GOOD are Democrats if they jump the other side and simply give in without a fight?
Of course, some of that plays into my pet peeve that we have become TOO LAZY in trying to move the national conversation in PROGRESSIVE directions. If you think the whole country follows every word that Rachel Maddow, John Stewart and Steven Colbert say, I've got very disappointing news for you (and them.)
Not that we might not be a better world if we did, but that's the way it is.
We just sit back, assume we have all the right answers on all the challenges and can certainly point to our intellectual heroes and warriors, but need to do more to help change the conversation in this country.
Gay people did it. How do you think gay marriage got so suddenly popular? WORK at finding the right formulas to CHANGE people's minds about the important issues of our time.
But all be that as it may...
First of all, it angers me that Reid would give a fig leaf like this to Rubio. One of the last things in the world we as a party need is for Rubio to be offered any life lines.
But, so Reid allows a vote in the Senate. Would it pass? I'm wondering if it might not be a move to allow our more endangered Senators up for election next year cover for voting against what I would expect to be a sure-fire Democratic filibuster against the proposal.
That would tamp down the issue for Pryor, Landrieu and some other senators in jeopardy next year for whom the issue could be a potent wedge issue.
Could it even survive committee? Does anyone know which committee it would have to originate from?
Could he be thinking that far ahead? Or is his Mormonism just coming out of the closet?
Thoughts?
Anyway, I just saw this on the WashingtonPost and thought it deserved some discussion.
