Before I begin, I just want to say that I am a Native Floridian, born and raised. I also still live and work in FL, which is why I'm writing this diary. I'll start below the squiggly.
Dear Fellow Floridians,
I don't know how else to say this, so I'll just say it: being a Florida Native, I have always felt a sense of shame and dread when it comes to virtually everything about the state. From the ass backwards education system to the lawlessness that is often on display within national and local media circles, it's obvious to anyone with eyes and the ability to think critically that both the crazy and the stupid run deep here in the so-called Sunshine state.
For me, my breaking point came three years ago when we managed to elect a man who defrauded the federal government for nearly 2 billion dollars with fraudulent billing practices and walked away with a 310 million dollar golden parachute by making himself look like an idiot during a hearing. That says more about the investigators than it does him, but I'll leave that one alone for now.
Since then, it's only gotten worse. This son of a bitch has done nothing but use America's Wang to enrich himself by writing bogus laws targeting welfare recipients. Oh sure, a couple of them probably did use drugs, but anyone who's kept tabs on Voldemort knows the son of a bitch did it so his drug testing firm, Solantic could put more money in that already outlandish bank account of his.
Then came the travesty known as the Zimmerman Case: A murder that occurred because some jackass with a clear history of violence, including assaulting a police officer wanted to get his jollies by playing vigilante on an innocent 17 year old kid.
What did the media do? What it always does: Sensationalize the whole thing, just like with OJ, and the Casey Anthony cases. And let's not forget the polarizing effect it had on the country as a whole. Because of a couple of pictures posted on Facebook, much of the public saw Martin as a thug. It doesn't matter that the coward with a gun, Zimmerman was the aggressor in this matter. Nope. Doesn't matter that Zimmerman was told by the dispatcher to stay in his car and leave well enough alone either. He even told TV rodeo clown Sean Hannity it was 'God's Will' for him to shoot Trayvon Martin dead.
My point is, I'm sick and tired of having to live around and put up with the crazy and the stupid. I doubt I'll get through to many people here, but I just can't give this stupid state the benefit of the doubt anymore.
From the seniors who rally against their own interests to eat their young to the batshit insane state government, I've seen it all. I'm sure I'm not alone in this mindset though. Sorry if I've been harsh, but it seems nothing else will get through. I don't know how much more I can take of the insanity or willful stupidity.
Sincerely,
A Frustrated Floridian
