Based on what I see on Facebook, this is what they teach at southern white churches:

Trayvon Martin deserved to die and we should be happy that George Zimmerman killed him. Because Christians are "pro-life" and they have a God-given right to kill people who scare them. Especially people wearing hoodies. Christian governors and legislators agree and have enshrined that right in the law. Because they are pro-life.

(continued below the fold)

If you have lost your job and haven't been able to find another one, you're not unlucky, or old, you're just a lazy slacker and it is not society's job to help you. Jesus condemns socialists and takers to Hell. Real Christians believe people who don't have a job "should not eat" because that's what it says in Thessalonians. And, by the way, their kids should not eat either. Because all life is special, but eating is a right enjoyed only by those who earn it. It's not the Christians' fault that you are only 7 years old. After all, they don't want you to starve. They just don't want their tax dollars to pay for your food stamps.

Jesus tells us that we should all pitch in to help sugar growers make a profit, but it is not our responsibility to pay for other people's healthcare. Because while all life is special, healthcare is not a right.

If you are a woman who wants to use contraceptives, you are a slut and if you think insurance should pay for your contraception, you are a whore. Also if you are a woman, "small government" legislators are the best people to make decisions about your healthcare because all pregnancies are exactly alike, and women are insufficiently responsible to make the healthcare decisions that male Christians think they should make. Also, good Christians do not vaccinate their daughters against cervical cancer because girls should not have sex. If you do have sex and get cervical cancer, you deserve to die. Yes, those are your parents who are telling this to you.

Apparently a lot of southern Christian men secretly want to leave their wives to marry other men. These latent desires are so strong that they can only be controlled if gay marriage is strictly against the law. The liberal justices on the Supreme Court have thus doomed heterosexual Christian marriage.

If you are rich, it is because you work hard and God favors you. If you are poor, it is only because you are too lazy to become rich and the bible tells us we should have nothing to do with you so you should feel ashamed. Because you are not rich, and while all life is special, rich people have earned a better life.

I think the southern white church has lost its way. Perhaps we should have nothing to do with it, so it will feel ashamed.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
