When leaders lead, good things happen
For years, Republicans have been
abusing the
filibuster at a rate so
unprecedented it was nothing less than
malicious. For years, many of
us have been
exasperated that Democrats were allowing them to get away with it. But with Majority Leader Harry Reid finally drawing a line in the sand, with a legitimate threat to take away their precious, Republicans backed down, and now are
imploding into a quivering mass of
carnivorous goop.
Richard Cordray has been confirmed to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The NLRB will be functional. And although more battles loom, reform has only just begun.
It's time to thank Harry Reid. When Democratic leaders lead, Republicans are paralyzed, and good things get done. We need more.
