What did you do to reduce your carbon footprint today? And how easy, or how hard, did your community make it to do so?
I rode to work twice this week. I had to send YeloVelo to the shop for its first tune-up. After 700 plus miles in 8 weeks, cables started to stretch and things got sloppy. The week before I got in 4 rides, and next week I'm going for all 5 days.
YeloVelo:
Go below the treble clefs having sex for the rest.
One thing I'm really focusing on with my kids (8 and 11) is walking. Not going for walks, but walking. As in, we're walking to the barber, or we're walking to the grocery. If we're going less than a mile or two, I try to walk. My goal? I want them to see the car as the long-distance option, not the only choice. When they are adults, I want them to look for a place to live that allows them to walk. It should be the obvious and natural choice. Bikes, too, should be able to carry things. Why not grocery shop on the bike. It's not a piece of exercise equipment. It's transportation.
My town is getting much better at this, with great bike trails and plenty of neighborhoods near at least a few shops that offer a couple of basics, from haircuts to groceries.
Enough about me. What did you do this week to reduce your carbon footprint, and how easy did your community make it to do so?
