Good Morning all y'all.. Welcome to KosKraft, Issue 15.
This Group is for all those creative kossack artisans, plying away at their benches. If you make things, please join, and maybe give us a look at your work.
After the silly string.
Anatomy of a repair
Soooo, this bag comes into my shop. Sounds like an old joke,
But....this old bag needed some help.
As you can see, the front pockets aren't where they should be.
After scratching my head awhile, I started to take the bag apart for reconstruction. Contrary to what people think, this stuff doesn't happen in the wink of an eye. It ended up 3-4 hours work. Good thing the bag was worth the time. It's of European descent, still being made today, so it's withstood the trials of time. Probably a $600-700 satchel.
Anywho, I made the inside pieces, stitched them in, refitted the front pockets, and restitched them. Next sewed that whole front piece back on the bag. With a little more effort, I could have made a whole new one, but the customer's memories were worth more.
After a good coat of oil..VWALA
Well, that's all for now.
All Kossack Artisans are welcome to join the group, just send me a PM.
In the meantime, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the
KosKatalog. They do yeoman's work in there, and it's about as business close to supporting "local" as you can get on the inter tubes.
Another crafty place to hang around...
