This is not a diary, I know, but the video is BUGGING THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME!
Please fix it?

More Tagging tips:
A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?
Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.
If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office.
CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.
Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.
Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary:
Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House.
If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state
Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries
that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I don't unnerstan, is there an ad running that auto-plays as soon as you goto the site? (I have a membership, so I don't see the ads....)

it's off the front page now but the video was autoplaying as soon as one brought up the front page. There's a diary with the Today Show that is doing the same thing.

Except for youtube and other sites where you go to a page explicitly to view video w/ audio.
Sites where reading is the primary activity should never allow anything to autoplay just because you loaded the page.
Having it happen on this site is particularly annoying because you may end up scrolling and scrolling to find the specific embed that's playing, and yesterday when this happened, I just said "fuck it" and closed dkos.

...while you're catching up on the day's fiascos at dkos...
It's bad enough that you might wake them with your screams of outrage that someone is, once again, wrong on the internet, and then BAM.
Autoplay for an embed THAT YOU CAN'T FIND ON THE PAGE.
Scramble scramble flail flail.
Autoplay on dkos is a dick move.

And the damn thing started to autoplay yesterday when I came to the site. I couldn't see where it was coming from. Hasn't done it today, though.

It hasn't happend to me yet and ads are placed courtesy of NSA-like search histories so everyone sees different ads. But I have to agree--autoplay sucks big sweaty donkey balls...no offense intended to donkeys.

Hate it when that happens. Auto play should be banned. I know, we got bigger fish to fry but some things are easy to agree on and we can knock that out before I crack open a beer.
- Scratch that, no beer cans here. Well, let's try anyway.
This better be good. Because it is not going away.

This has happened before, usually with Comedy Central videos. It's bugging the crap out of me too.

I got sick of autoplay everytime I'd go to ESPN.com or my local news stations. There's a setting in your browser that you probably have to adjust.

The same video was on auto play on other sites also (Crooks & Liars, Think Progress)- so methinks the problem is not DK's fault- but in the video itself.
And there were more than one videos that had the problem. Stephen Colbert's video was doing the same thing.

It is ALL embedded TDS/TCR content on ANY site.
It may be browser dependent, but I'm not in a position to investigate at the moment nor have I found a code work around.
by ek hornbeck on Sat Jul 20, 2013 at 08:40:43 AM PDT
that suggests COMEDY CENTRAL effed this up.
Still, the KOS people should be a bit vigilant about the vids they embed.
It will definitely depress their traffic if every visitor has to figure out every time how to shut CC videos OFF.
People just wont bother (to come back for awhile).
by DrTerwilliker on Sat Jul 20, 2013 at 08:43:39 AM PDT
diary. Dunno which one because I closed that tab asap.
It has to be CC - they are porlly setting autoplay as their default in their YouTube postings. Which SUCKS big time, imo. I believe there is a way someone who posts their vids to turn it off in the posting. But you have to know how to do it & think about it, which most people don't at this point.
Dunno the answer, except for banning CC vids until they fix it. I'll tell this, tho - Fuck your autoplay vids Comedy Central!

Thomas RIP diary.
Shame on CC for doing this.

As I commented on another diary complaining about it, I've now found that using Firefox on both a Mac and a PC, the Comedy Central video autoplays. From what any commenter posted above, it evidently autoplays on Chrome.
It did not autoplay for me using Internet Explorer on a PC or Safari on a Mac.

the Help Desk. It's an imbedded autoplay of the recent The Daily Show with comedian Lewis Black mocking Rick Perry. I don't think it's still working right now, but it was all day yesterday. It was a front-page post (by Jen Hayden, called Lewis Black messes with Texas) that included it.
