I haven't written on Daily Kos for awhile because I've been busy taking care of my elderly parents and that has turned out to be a full time job.
This morning I went to the store to get some things for breakfast and on the corner were a bunch of right -to -lifers holding signs of aborted babies, which were bloodily gory for the shock value. I was all set to just ignore them when one of the guys ( you guessed they were all Male, didn't you?) turned his sign toward me and started making gestures at his sign and then at me. I opened the window and he was shouting about how it was not a choice and that I, just because I was a woman, was wrong to make it!
I was very incensed and started to yell back at him. Now, normally I just ignore these ignorant people but when he acted like aborting babies was all my fault just because I am a woman, I let him have it.
Choice is between a woman and her doctor. Choice is a private decision and not one that should be debated by a lot of MEN about what is right for a woman. Choice is not a decision that is or should be subject to stupid and insensitive rules and regulations which require a doctor to lie to the woman or have an ultra sound forced on her causing even more stress. Making that choice is stressful enough. And if Roe v Wade is debated (again) by the Supreme Court I will be one of the women standing there with a large sign stating "My body, My choice!"
That A-hole actually flipped me off as the light changed and I drove away. So much for a thoughtful discussion on a difficult situation.
