No, not THAT Southern Avenger. This one: Jack Hunter. From CNN:
Hunter had made a number of provocative comments about race and was also a member of the pro-Southern independence group League of the South before he started working for Paul.
Hunter had previously written articles praising John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Abraham Lincoln, and acknowledged that he toasts Booth's birthday annually.
Supposedly the Southern Avenger's website is down, but thanks to Mr. Peabody and his Wayback Machine, you can read
this in all it's glory:
The Sad State of Confederate Memorial Day
by The Southern Avenger
11 May 2006
Wednesday May 10 was Confederate Memorial Day in South Carolina. The date was chosen to mark the death of General Thomas Jackson, but with apologies to Stonewall, I personally like to remember it as the birthday of John Wilkes Booth, the man who gave Abe Lincoln his just desserts.
Other great hits include:
If You Liked Saddam... You'll Love Lincoln!
The Wicked Witch of the South (a Wiccan who is overly litigious as far SA is concerned -- he expresses a temptation to return to burning at the stake)
And my personal favorite,The Mexification of America in Rant-o-rama:
What is at stake is the American nation itself, or at least as we now know it. A quarter century ago, John Mellencamp could sing a song about two American kids sucking on chili dogs outside the Tastee Freeze that we could all recognize. Today not only is the burrito replacing the chili dog, but the Tastee Freeze is gone, the kids aren't even American and they sure as hell don't own any John Cougar records. For God's sake, let us be done with all the suicidal excuses and start dealing with the brutal reality at hand, or Americans can say "adios" to the country they love forever.
No John Mellencamp records? T-R-E-A-S-O-N!!!!
