Received this e-mail today from former Vice President Al Gore in support of Senator Brian Schatz's (D) 2014 campaign:
Earlier this month, President Obama laid out a bold plan to reduce carbon pollution and step up the fight against climate change.
His decision to issue EPA regulations limiting greenhouse gas emissions from new and existing power plants is a big step forward. But we have so much more to do -- and now Congress must step up to the challenge.
Fortunately, we have a few strong leaders on climate change and clean energy in Congress, including my friend, Senator Brian Schatz from Hawaii.
Fighting climate change and developing America's clean energy economy are more than just goals for Brian--they're his passion. And we're going to need Brian's strong, outspoken leadership in Congress for many more years to get the job done.
Will you join me in keeping Senator Brian Schatz in Congress, so he can continue to lead on climate change and clean energy? Please contribute $5, $10, or more to Brian's campaign now!

Brian's not new to this fight. He has been working to solve the climate crisis for more than a decade before coming to Washington, both in the Hawaii legislature and as Hawaii's Lieutenant Governor.
In fact, thanks to Brian's visionary leadership, Hawaii implemented its own groundbreaking Clean Energy Initiative. As a result, Hawaii has tripled its renewable energy production from 6% to 18% -- and is on track to reach 40% by 2030, the highest renewable energy portfolio in the nation.
Brian represented Hawaii during 24 Hours of Reality, hosted by The Climate Reality Project, where we put the spotlight on climate change in every region of the globe. Now, in just his first six months in the Senate, Brian Schatz has already put his passion and enthusiasm for tackling climate change into motion.
He partnered with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rep. Henry Waxman, and Rep. Earl Blumenauer to write legislation that would put a price on carbon, requiring polluters to pay for their emissions.
Brian Schatz is exactly the kind of visionary leader we need in the Senate, fighting to solve the climate crisis right now -- and in years to come.
Please contribute $5, $10, or more to Senator Brian Schatz's campaign now -- so he can continue to lead on climate change and clean energy in Congress, now and for many years to come.

Thanks for joining me in supporting Senator Brian Schatz, a true leader in the fight against climate change.
Sincerely,
Al Gore
P. S. In my view, it is time to pick senators who not only have the right positions on climate issues, but are willing to really make solving the climate crisis a priority, and are passionate about it!
