Furlough Diary - Day 2:Feeling Sequestered
This is the second of my 11 unpaid summer vacation days courtesy of... well nobody's really taking credit...modesty. As matter of fact I'm impressed with the discipline of those who no doubt consider around half a million DoD employees prevented from doing their jobs worth the "pittance" of a reduction in government spending it provides. I expected to see them jumping for joy, but instead they are quietly enjoying it. It amounts to maybe 1-2% of the budget, 8-10% of the DoD budget, 20% of my paycheck; apparently this is the sort of thing that runs down hill. So if the sequester is the positive sign of responsible government that you have been waiting for to go on a investin' and job creatin' spree...your welcome.
,While you do that I'll just sit here and wonder:
How will I pay for new tires to pass inspection, oh yeah, I wont need a car.
If I go into my office to get my coffee cup on my furlough day can I be arrested for trespassing... or vagrancy.
If I go on jury duty on my furlough day do I get to keep the $10 check instead of signing it over my government employer.
Are they hiring at the Wendy's across the street.
How should I feel about being "non essential" and do I have to put it on my resume.
Will this be over in September or since it's workin' out so well maybe it's just the begining.
And what time does Green Acers come on?
