It takes courage to make a stand and boycotting is not all that effective because it hurts all the wrong people.
You may say..Hey I am not coming to any crazy state that shoots first and then barely asks questions later? Really? How about people before you who stood for justice when little girls were blown to bits in a church in Birmingham? Did activists boycott Alabama? No..they marched and they marched peacefully and had dogs turned on them over and over. Did they face Bull Conner? Did they face water hoses? Batons?
You bet they did. These kind of activists wanted change and were wiling to die for it.
These folks wanted justice. The Martin family that resides in Florida does not want a boycott. They want change. They want a movement. I saw their interview on CNN.
A boycott does nothing but close down little shops and small business and hurt people, mostly people who will lose jobs ...minimum wage jobs with little if any insurance ..the very people the boycott is trying to get justice for. Products, shopping, yes..the state..No. There is more than touris, here. We need a progressive surge.
When there is a cultural war, which is what we have been having along with racial division, then more than a boycott is needed. ALEC..Wall Street...Freedomworks...Teapartiers had a strategy and it worked. Send Red Boots into blue states and take away the power of the unions. Put power and money into their idealogical agenda and take the state and local houses over along with the governship. Like a cancer it grew. We had Red interlopers go into states like Wisconsin, Arizona, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Michigan and prop up the crazies who were already residing there and give them a voice. They did not flee from the people who went for Obama like North Carolina and Florida and Va. in 08...Oh NO....they had a plan...They even went into Massachussetts. They helped take Kennedy's seat. Are you kidding me? Massachussetts? Kennedy held seat? For how many generations? We ended up with the likes of West in Florida and Rand Paul in Kentucky! Bachman was stealing more than air time in her home state and Brewer was in a state of immigrants wagging her finger in the President's face.
When in the middle of a idealogical war, do people who are true freedom lovers just shrug their shoulders and say I am not going there and go on their merry way leaving the poor, tired, liberal, downtrodden to fend for themselves or put liberal boots on the ground and help TAKE IT BACK for them. I am not talking about sending money to a campaign. I am talking about making plans for a movement into these states and standing there or moving into those snow bird homes and vote the bastards out. I am talking about marching in the reddest of states? I am talking about courage and determination to stand your ground and do away with STAND YOUR GROUND laws with the vote and registration and helping the poor and elderly get to the polls. I am talking about organization on a massive scale into RED states and do pick any one of your choice. There are plenty to choose from. Sherman's march through Atlanta was not a peaceful one but MLK's was.
Let me tell you what I witnessed yesterday. A black acquaintance of ours was being talked into standing for Zimmerman from the right and they were using ridiculous logic on him like , "What would you do if some brother was punching you in the face"? Same thing the defense said. He was buying it. He is a smart guy, street guy and from New York but buying into some work related rhetoric. Now if the AA community and really liberal folks start getting talked into this mess, we in red states definately have a problem because they are what I call mind F....ing with folks who feel outnumbered . It took us 3 hours of the stay in your car argument to this guy to even have him start considering how wrong that verdict was. He was convinced it was murder before the mind screw.
I stay here and fight. I fight like Hell as does Ole Hippie Chic..and (formely known Beach Babe ) and Zwoof, and Gulfgal (fighting in two states) both red. We have JustBob, tommyfocus and countless others standing and fighting. We are talking back and trying to organize and we are not young people. We need back up. We need people from all blue states helping the tea party states vote these people out of office.
I said in 2010 that the southern stragegy would move into other states and unfortunately that was true. Now I predict Florida and Texas, setting the precident, now moving into North Carolina will not stop until the tea party has a hold on the entire country..not just the south. You will all be engulfed in the trenches of vaginal probes, slashed wages, standing ground, crazy ruling and you will be outnumbered and if WILL happen if we do not stand together and take a stand and make a movement to stop to inequality and start in the reddest of the red states. Florida is not blue..Not anymore since the VRA was slashes. Those folks stood in line 9 to 12 hours.
Boycott has it's place on products, not on idealogy. Get mad at me if you want but I go back to what Meteor Blades motto is. Tell me what you do and I will tell you what you believe. Forget the boycott of the SYG states. Fight back peacefully and stand on Red ground while you are doing it. Click the you tube link and see how real change comes about..Take a walk through history..because this change is hard but must be done again.
