It's pretty much an article of faith on the wingnut fringe that Obama wants to set up a dictatorship. But occasionally we get reminders that it's the wingers who want to lobotomize the First Amendment. Case in point: Erik Rush, a columnist for WorldNutDaily and a frequent Faux News contributor. Back in October, Rush famously called for leading Democrats and journalists to be arrested for treason. He also called for Congress to enact laws against sedition. In other words, nothing less than fascism.
Yesterday, he appeared on TruNews, hosted by a rising star on the winger fringe, Rick Wiles. Rush used the occasion to double down on his call for journalists to be arrested. People for the American Way got a clip (sorry, it won't embed).
In the same breath as denouncing his opponents as Communists, Rush said that one of the first priorities for a "law-and-order administration" ought to be to have some leading journalists packed off to jail because of what he calls outright "treasonous" behavior. So let's see if we've got this right. He whines about the supposed police-state tactics of the Obama administration, but supports something that would go way beyond anything he's complaining about? Pot, meet kettle.
