Welcome to the July 26, 2013 Post Game Show for Mojo Friday!
So Detroit is failing, and yet the state will fund a new public stadium. Think Miami or Tampa Bay, while not bankrupt, are having the same discussion. I'm not aware of any public stadium funding that has every returned more revenue to the city and state than it cost. Teams and leagues benefit, of course. But not those who pay.
We have bridges in need of repair. Some are failing, and it is catastrophic when they do. We have roads in need of repair, damaging cars and causing accidents around the country. Programs to repair these would not only help make this a better country, but generate an incredible number of jobs and contribute to both economic growth and better off citizens.
Thank you, Chimene, for calling this to our attention. And thank you for your first (is that right?) Mojo Friday diary! Here's to many more!
Today's Mojo Friday diary is Mojo Friday - Robbing Infrastructure Budgets to Pay for Ooh-Shinys - Edition
The Mojo Friday Postgame is a statistical analysis of the Mojo Friday diary that is posted every Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. ET. For further info please check out Jez's 'Official' "Mojo Friday Snecktionary" MKinTN posted a diary to help everyone achieve greater success called How to Succeed at Mojo Friday Without Really Trying.
