And the question remains, what do either of these things have to do with medical need?
Teen denied heart transplant because of low grades, trouble with law, family says
ATLANTA —A Georgia teen who was given just months to live has been denied a heart transplant because of low grades and trouble with the law, his family says.
Anthony Stokes, 15, has an enlarged heart, and will die if he does not receive a transplant, ABC News reported.
His family says doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston said won't put him on the transplant list because of his history of "noncompliance."
Stokes mother, Melencia Hamilton, said the doctors felt they had "no evidence that he would take his medicine or that he would go to his follow-ups."
The hospital said it follows "very specific criteria in determining eligibility for a transplant of any kind."
