In a land far, far, removed from reality there lives a pimp-pundit. He is the biggest, baddest pimp-pundit in cable news land. This ogre yells, screams and blows away the equally odious competition. But this pimp-pundit claims he cares about the folks, and yet, in reality, he only cares about his bottom line.
Meet la grande dame of American racial pimp-punditry: Bill O'Reilly.
Lately I have been trying to move away from cable news. It saps up a lot of juice on my Mac Book first off. But I also fail to learn anything remotely close to news. Instead, I am subjected night after night to the musings and incessant blabbering of hacks and tools sprouting rubbish. There are exceptions of course, but they are far and few between.
Chris Hayes said a few weeks ago that he doesn't engage in hate-watching on television, meaning he doesn't watch cable news to yell at and hate what he is watching. I have tried to avoid similar situations, but after catching a clip of O'Reilly's show last night I felt an urgent need to respond.
O'Reilly is a racial pimp-pundit who has attacked a dead 17-year old boy, Trayvon Martin, and black culture in general. He is also a terrible racist as is any white male who goes to a black restaurant and says:
I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship. It was the same, and that's really what this society's all about now here in the U.S.A. . . There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.'
Or, when recounting his experience at an Anita Baker concert, remarks:
You know, and I went to the concert by Anita Baker at Radio City Music Hall, and the crowd was 50/50, black/white, and the blacks were well-dressed.
O'Reilly's comments demonstrate not just his ignorance of black people and black culture (everyone knows that black folk stay fresh), but also his pellucid belief that black people and black culture are somehow inferior to their white counterparts; this makes him a perfect exemplar of white supremacy. He, naturally, doesn't think he is racist, but I do think he furtively recognizes how big of a grievance pimp he truly is.
After the Trayvon Martin ruling O'Reilly attacked Rihanna and Stevie Wonder for announcing they would boycott Florida. He claimed they were doing it because of money and didn't want to offend their black consumers. This is nonsense given the fact that white Americans are much more likely to have the financial resources that fill the pockets of the Rihanna and Wonder. Moreover, if they wanted to protect their earnings the easier path would have been to stay quiet given the power of white dollars. I happen to think O'Reilly was projecting his own whorish ways onto others. After all, this is a man who spends every December on the front lines of the War on Christmas, a war that only exists in his otherwise empty head. But that doesn't stop him from telling viewers that radical leftists are trying to destroy Christmas and replace it with Ramadan or the Winter Solstice.
Last night on his show he continued his latest cri de coeur about a group of black kids who beat up a white boy. Why, you ask, is he pimping this story? It's simple: he's playing to his embittered, frustrated and racist viewership. A viewership that is mostly white and old. A viewership that fears the country's changing racial demographics and hate what America is becoming.
Racial pimp-pundits like O'Reilly—instead of using his platform to elevate the discourse—play to the bigotry, ignorance and lowest common denominator of those who believe reverse racism is a real thing and that Barack Obama is a Manchurian Candidate who has taken their country from them.
How else can O'Reilly explain focusing on an isolated incident of black on white crime? Why didn't he report on the white youth who rioted in California recently? Or why hasn't O'Reilly covered the case of CeCe McDonald, a black trans woman who defended herself against a group of racist, white attackers, killing one of them, and was then thrown in a male prison for standing her ground? Maybe it's because he is a racial arsonist who milks old white people with his tacky shark bait, lame and poorly written books, a hideous radio show and an infuriating television spectacle.
Once George Orwell, after reading a book he clearly loathed, reportedly said, "If pages could give off a physical stink, these would." That's how I feel whenever I see clips of O'Reilly and his ilk: "If this show could give off a physical stink, it would." O'Reilly stinks with the scent of racism, supremacy and greed. He is a rancid cancer on cable news and the fact that he has a show, is considered a journalist! and is feted by those outside of Fox Land, tells one all he/she needs to know about the sorry and pathetic state of the country's news media.
