Cruz: Eligible for president, and Canada's parliament,
too
You may have already seen
the news:
In an effort to repudiate suggestions that he is ineligible to be president of the United States, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) released his birth certificate Sunday to The Dallas Morning News.
And you
probably already knew that Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada, but is nonetheless a natural born U.S. citizen, just as President Obama would have been had he actually been born in Kenya or Indonesia or wherever the heck Orly Taitz thinks he was born.
So, at least as it relates to the birther hilarity, Ted Cruz releasing his birth certificate isn't really breaking new ground. But it does mean that he wants to be thought of as a serious* 2016 contender. That's the real story here, and it's awesome.
*To be fair, the word "serious" takes on a whole different meaning when you're using it to describe Republican presidential candidates.
