I haven't lost faith, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.

I have to admit that I'm a bit flummoxed at the moment. It's not the first time though. This is the exact same feeling I had at the height of the effort to make Same Sex Marriage illegal or unconstitutional or whatever it was they were up to at the time (and still are in all likelihood.) I was certainly confused by the notion of someone else's marriage having any effect on my own marriage. Now it's possible that the r's had just gotten through studying quantum mechanics and just became confused over the whole notion of quantum entanglement. Einstein's so called a spooky action at a distance, but something tells me no on this one. If they can't even comprehend High School level macroeconomics or Biology, then I can't imagine them even trying to wrap their respective noodles around particle physics, but whatever. What's got my logic circuits smoking at the moment is their growing drum beat to impeach Mr. Obama in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"Impeachment?!?!" Says I. "What in the Holy Heck sort of High Crime or Misdemeanor did this man violate in office that would warrant an impeachment in the house?" Truth be known, the only thing I can possibly think of isn't anything that his predecessor didn't do and then some. So no hypocrites they, since 43 did it, how could they accuse this President of doing likewise; high crime or not? Could it be something that he did before he became President of the United States? Maybe they're just dusting off that whole palling around with terrorists canard. So, exactly what crimes are they accusing this President of? What grounds are they basing this monument of Democratic hostility and odium on: Something? ANYTHING!?!
So here it is, August, and all of those vainglorious republican Representatives, in all their splendiferous opulence and grandeur, are scurrying about their nice, safe, gerrymandered districts, giving the like minded cretins who show up to their town hall meetings, some kind of hope to hold on to. "Vote for me and I'll get 'em!" Now I'm just a guessin' here but, based on the you tube videos they play on television, that these simpletons think that all you have to do for impeachment is to hate the President (the President that they didn't vote for in the first place.) And if your hatred is strong and true then you too can evict this obvious tyrant from office. Hoisted upon his own petard. Now the very same teabagers skulking about these, so called, town hall meetings, are the same ones who claim to LUV the U.S. Constitution soooo so very much, that they'd kill and possibly even die for it! So don't you even try and tell them they aren't patriots and that they can't impeach this President!
So I feel that in light of all that we've seen and heard from this crew so far, that it begs the question: Have any of them ever actually read this document? The Constitution I mean. Even Once?!? Even in High School when you have to take U.S. Constitution to graduate? Never? Really? Then how did you grad.. u... ate.... Oh, never mind then. But still!... Not even one single time? I sure as Heck bet you've read the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Well, half of it at least, but if you're one of these people, despair not. Not everyone's a reader, so I'll spare you the drudgery of having to wade through the w h o l e document. I'd feel really bad if I was the person responsible for you coming down with an acute manifestation of cephalalgia, so here ya go. Take 'er slow! Don't get eye strain. That's how accidents happen!
Article. II.
Section. 4.
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
So now, all you need to know from the quote above is that Ben Franklin, and Tom Jefferson, and the boys; all those folks from the tri-cornered hat days, who you claim so vociferously to venerate, these guys thought that if you're actually going to go through all the trouble of impeaching, trying, and ultimately removing an office holder from his elected position, thus invalidating an entire National election and thusly thwarting the will of the very people this Constitution was enacted to protect. They thought that if someone was going to go through all that damn trouble, having a reason might not be a bad idea! Don't ya think?!?
Oh, and BTW, I included the link to the official web site of the U.S. Archives. Just in case you didn't want to go ahead and take my word for it. And why should you? All I know is that if someone who I didn't know just pulled out a part of the "supposed" Constitution that I've never heard of, seemingly coming out of the distal end of their alimentary canal, well then, I might be just a wee bit skeptical and suspicious too.
Enjoy!
