Received this e-mail today from one of the community's favorite Senators, U.S> Senator Sherrod Brown (D. OH), who is helping Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D. KY) build up a strong grassroots campaign in her bid to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R. KY) next year:
In 2012, ours was one of the most expensive Senate races in the country. We faced down more than $40 million in outside spending against us. And we won because of the grassroots strength we built together.

Right now, there's a strong Democrat in the Kentucky Senate race who needs your help to do the same thing.

Her name is Alison Lundergan Grimes. She's polling neck-and-neck with Senator Mitch McConnell. And pundits are already predicting her race to be one of closest and most expensive races in the cycle.

Alison needs a strong grassroots network like ours fighting with her -- and you can be a part of it. Click here to join Alison's team:

Kentucky couldn't find a better Senator than Alison. She knows what it takes to get things done for middle class families.

We don't need a crystal ball to see what's coming down the road for Alison. We already know what she's going to face -- tight polling, millions in special interest attacks, and a well-funded opponent.

Luckily, she can learn from our experience. Because we know that the key to winning a tight race is to build a strong, energized grassroots network.

Your support made the difference for me in 2012 -- and it can make the difference for Alison, too. Sign up to join her grassroots team right now:

Our mission didn't end in November. If we're going to keep fighting for middle class families, we need to help elect leaders who are committed to making a difference.

Alison is one of those leaders. I hope you'll stand with her:

Thank you for all of your support.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
