Received this e-mail today from gubernatorial candidate Vincent Sheheen (D. SC) in honor of the 50th anniversary of the March On Washington:
Friends, Today let us all pause to reflect on and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. On that day hundreds of thousands of Americans joined together to call for equal rights and justice for all citizens. They heard Dr. King speak of his dream that one day all Americans would be judged by the content of their character. For fifty years we have made tremendous progress toward Dr. King’s dream, but we must always continue to press onward in pursuit of equality for all. We continue to work so that every child in America has the opportunity to receive a strong public education. We continue to work so that every able American can know the dignity of a job. And we continue to work so that every American has the opportunity to live out our uniquely American dream.
To those who took part in the civil rights movement decades ago and to all those who carry on the effort today, thank you for helping our nation live up to the creed established in our Declaration of Independence, that all men are created equal.
I encourage all of you to take a moment to visit the National Archives webpage and read through Dr. King’s entire speech and reflect on it words and meanings. You can read it HERE:

Let’s believe again,
Vincent
