The battle over the Affordable Care Act – aka Obamcare - threatens to intensify just after Labor Day when Tea Party radicals plan a rally at the House Speaker’s office.
Meanwhile, the Obama Administration is fighting back with a public relations blitz touting the benefits already being enjoyed by Americans – or soon to be implemented.
We blogged about it in detail this morning in HHS Secretary Sibelius touts benefits being implemented
An advisory from the White House Office Of Communications alerted me late Tuesday to the availability of the video published with this story.
Meanwhile, the small but respected Washington D.C. paper The Hill had a different take in Tea Party to rally against ‘BoehnerCare’ over fight to defund healthcare law on Aug. 26.
Lara Seligman writes: “Tea Party activists are planning a rally outside Speaker John Boehner’s (R) Ohio office on Tuesday (Sept. 2), vowing they will rebrand President Obama’s healthcare reform law “BoehnerCare” if he does not get behind a conservative effort to defund the legislation."
On Wednesday, however, the Tea Party and its GOP friends in Congress were dealt a significant blow when a widely respected poll found a majority of Americans oppose defunding the health insurance reform.
The Kaiser Health Tracking Poll: August 2013
published on Wednesday reported that a large majority of Americans oppose any plans to defund Obamacare.
Asked the following question:
“Whether or not you like the health care law, would you say you approve or disapprove of cutting off funding as a way to stop some or all of the law from being put into place? – a whopping 57 percent disapproved; that is 21 percentage points greater than the 36 percent who approved.
THIS IS NOT GOOD NEWS for the Republicans in Congress, who face increasing pressure from their right wing radicals.
We can only hope the damage they inflict upon themselves benefits all of us as they fade into obscurity.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

the insurance companies and medical providers such as Walgreens and CVS start advertising.  It will be a test of commercial advertising for those who stand to make money from ObamaCare vs political grandstanding by those who stand to make money from their GOP base.

  •  They should have asked a follow-up question. (0+ / 0-)

"If you approve of defunding the Affordable Care Act, would you approve of shutting down the Federal Government as a way to achieve that goal?"

I'm guessing the numbers against defunding would be much higher.

  •  Tea Party plans to "intensify" opposition (0+ / 0-)

    after Labor Day?

I thought they planned to intensify it during town halls in the August recess.

But that didn't go so well for them:

I'm not all that concerned by their threats anymore.

and everything will cost more because POX said so.  They're both on Medicare.

My brother is on a high deductible shit plan through his work at VoldeMart.  He has preexisting conditions.

I have no insurance at all and preexisting conditions.  As Louisiana will not be expanding Medicare and Oregon will - I will most likely go back to Oregon, even if it's the middle of winter so I will have coverage.
