Welcome to the eighth installment of What's On Your E-Reader?
What exactly is What's On Your E-Reader? This is my own little thing that I am going to be getting out every Sunday at 2pm EST. Within this post I'll list a few of the books that are currently on my TBR list on my Kindle. Some are freebies (or were when I bought them), and others I paid for with gift cards, or had a few spare bucks to spend on a book.
All of them, I fully intend on getting to, at some point (and taking a massive chisel to my to-read list and hopefully hack it down to under 1000, again).
Okay, I'm addicted to E-books. I admit I have a problem.
I have plenty to read on my Kindle, and yet I still raid library books to add more to my TBR list, and those usually end up getting read first because I've got them on a time limit (namely 14-21 days!).
I've got 4 books for you today:
Jaded by Mercy Amare
I'm Scarlett Ryan.
Yes, THAT Scarlett Ryan.
I live an extraordinary life: millionaire rock star, owner of exotic cars, pictures of me in every magazine, millions of fans, and a name that is recognized world wide. It's supposed to be my dream come true. But, my life IS a fantasy, and I want real. I want exciting. I want... NORMAL. So, I moved from California to Florida, hoping to obtain some normalcy. Instead I find...
Stephan Montgomery.
This book follows the life of 19 year old Scarlett Ryan, who decides that it is time to take a break from her life as a millionaire rock star and finish her senior year of high school. So, she moves to Hope, Florida, in hopes that she can just be -normal- for a little while. Will she get to be normal, or will Stephan Montgomery make her break the one rule she had, don't fall in love?
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life to by a disgraced rabbi who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her masterâthe husband who commissioned herâdies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York harbor in 1899.
Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop. Though he is no longer imprisoned, Ahmad is not entirely freeâan unbreakable band of iron around his wrist binds him to the physical world.
This book caught my attention because I adore unique stories about genies, or in this case jinni. I've heard mixed reviews of this story, and ultimately decided that I would read it for myself and formulate my own opinion. I'd have this one read probably in a few more days, after I finish Jaded.
The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
Before he knew about the Roses, 16-year-old Jack lived an unremarkable life in the small Ohio town of Trinity. Only the medicine he has to take daily and the thick scar above his heart set him apart from the other high schoolers. Then one day Jack skips his medicine. Suddenly, he is stronger, fiercer, and more confident than ever before. And it feels great - until he loses control of his own strength and nearly kills another player during soccer team tryouts.
This one, is another one of those that I've seen multiple times, it keeps catching my attention every time and I finally broke down and decided to see if my library has it. They did, in e-book and so I'm gonna get to this one too eventually. Usually before it has to be returned, or I just don't sync until I'm done with it!
Dragonborn by Jade Lee
When dragon power flows through your veins, when dragon thoughts burn in your mind, you can accomplish anything. Natiya knows, for she carries one of the last eggs in the land disguised as a jewel in her navel. Day by day the Unhatched grows, and when at last it births they will be joined in a sacred and eternal bond. Gone will be the barmaid forced to dance for pennies; born will be Dag Natiya, revered Queen. Take her body or her soul, nothing will stop them.
This one, I actually stumbled across when I was searching for something else. Figured I'd give it a try. Don't judge me, this is indulging my occasional need to read a romance novel. Though, I've been reading more of those as of late!
So, what's on your e-reader? Any good books? Library books?
