Rush Limbaugh
And why is this important?
Because Rush Limbaugh is not just some loudmouth. Rush Limbaugh is the guy for getting ideas out there that the RWNM wants out there. If there is any surer way to know what Frank Luntz is getting from his focus groups than listening to Rush, I don't know what it is.
I'm going to use the broader definition of the Military Industrial complex to include all the aspects of corporate America that benefit from US military action. I was chided recently for limiting the MIC to only defense contractors, so I'm expanding the definition.
So, if you believe the MIC is in favor of US intervention in the war in Syria, and Obama's doing their bidding:
Why on earth would the MIC have their very notorious tool Rush Limbaugh expose the plot? Some sort of 11 D chess, where by exposing it he makes it impossible for us to believe in it?
Or do you honestly think that Rush Limbaugh is NOT a tool of the MIC?
You really can't have it both ways. Either Rush serves the MIC (broadly defined), or he doesn't. And since he clearly does serve them, it defies imagination that he's revealing the truth.
Conclusion: the MIC (broadly defined) doesn't care much one way or the other about Syria - except as an opportunity to attack Obama. The ACA, 2014 midterms, opposing carbon regulations, and so on, are far more important to the MIC than Bashar Assad and Raytheon selling some Tomahawk missiles.
I know that any good conspiracy theory can always be expanded to explain anything, but this one is going to take some work. Rush Limbaugh is not Alex Jones; he is the voice of the RWNM that sets the tone. And therefore you know the RWNM could really care less if Syria gets bombed so long as Obama is attacked.
Edit:
Don't take your eye off the ball. Syria does matter; I remain opposed to an air strike; but I think the evidence is that Corporate America could care less about Syria. What they care about is using Syria as another Benghazi. It's a way to stir up the base for 2014 and advance a domestic agenda that allows them to make far more money than they'd ever make in Syria.
