Boo.
Boooooooo.
[Liz] Cheney filled her 90-minute speech and question-and-answer session with red meat for the conservative crowd. She compared herself to Winston Churchill standing up to Adolph Hitler and suggested members of both parties in Congress are hiding information about Obamacare from the public.
Booooooooo.
Cheney also says Obama is incompetent because he didn't bomb Syria years ago, but since she is a Cheney that is really not news. And she says that she would not vote for bombing Syria if she were in Congress now, because she is a Republican and holy hell, they just cannot wrap their minds around this notion of Obama doing something that they've been calling for him to do for years, even if it means they get to bomb someone they have been itching to bomb—trying to decide between the two has broken what was left of their brains.
“The press will try to portray this Syria debate as a battle between wings of the Republican Party,” she said. “Don’t believe them.”
I don't think it's a battle between wings of the Republican Party, I think it's a battle between different portions of Liz Cheney's dark and empty noggin, and the noggins of a great many buffoonish others. Liz Cheney, supposed foreign policy expert via an ambiguous process of familial osmosis, shows that the Republican version of the "Syria debate" consists of opposing whatever it is Barack Obama is doing, regardless of what that is or what the previous deeply held position on the thing was or how convoluted the logic required to flop on the issue might be. I'm no longer sure the Republican Party even has
wings to speak of on these things so much as it has a muddled grey mush of internal befuddlement: Are several years of outraged demands that Obama
do something enough to overcome their revulsion when faced with him now wanting to
do it, or to overcome the cheap but irresistible thrill of blocking him from doing it? We are debating issues of war and death, and we are doing so with the intellectual heft of pouting toddlers fighting over who gets to use the Tomahawk missile playset.
Oh, right. Back to the original topic: Boooooo. How anything Liz Cheney has ever said or done in her nepotism-riddled life is equivalent to Liz Cheney standing up to Hitler is, sadly, left to our imaginations, but my own interpretation is that Liz Cheney is an irredeemable narcissist with delusions of grandeur and a penchant for seeing World War II hiding behind every couch and lamp. But she is a Cheney, so I repeat myself.
