Happy Friday Kibitzers! As always feel free to kibitz away.

palantir will be hosting next Friday’s KTK post. I predict something science related, maybe a video?

Next week is the “Hummingbird” Climate Change blog-a-thon with many big name diarists sharing stories of Climate Change’s current impact. Having had an inside peek at the schedule I can give you a sample of the great diarists: Bill McKibben, Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse, Aji, boatsie, VL Baker, Susan Gardner, citisven and many others. Daily Kos n00b swidnikk will be posting, he joined just a few weeks ago after working together with remembrance on a presentation for their synagogue.

But two of the diarists hold a special place in my heart; one is my wife remembrance, who tolerated many years of my ‘rants.’ She commiserated with me and even supported me when I wanted to take our little one to different rallies and events. Although she would attend an occasional Occupy or Dream Menders rally, the threat of climate change really hit a nerve; she is a mom.

Now my little one is a different story, she was hooked on activism since I took her to protest California’s Prop. 8. She was pretty young, but when I explained that her older cousin, who she adores, would not be able to marry his boyfriend like her parents were allowed, she got it. She has been to protests and rallies covering many topics, including income inequality, tax fairness, gun violence, and climate change. It is not uncommon for her to show up at local kossack get-togethers and hangout with some of her favorites like Meteor Blades, navajo, side pocket and citisven. She and I often go to political events where we meet congress people, state senators and such. Just a couple weeks ago we were doing a creek cleanup with our state senator. I’m not sure she understands that most kids don’t hangout in these circles.

Monday at 5pm PDT TheLittleOne makes her blogging debut and at 9 years old will be the youngest of the blog-a-thon team. She has been very excited and writing down notes on her many different Climate Change events she has been involved in. So watch for next week’s blog-a-thon, be sure to tip and rec in support. If you stop by my little one’s diary, leave a comment, but don’t expect a quick reply, she types like a 9 year-old.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of their evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, interesting videos, and so forth. Or just say "Hi" if you've had a long day and are too exhausted to participate more actively. We would also appreciate links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate.

Please note that pie fights will be unwelcome in this community, just as in most other series at DKos. There's lots of space at the rest of the site for fighting with other Democrats, progressives, and liberals, and we don't want those battles dragged into this community.

Finally, readers may notice that most who are posting diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but that definitely does not mean that newcomers will be excluded or unwelcome. We're happy to welcome guests to our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.

KTK posts nightly at 5:00 Pacific, 6:00 Mountain, 7:00 Central, 8:00 Eastern.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
