As with many strategies, the real agenda is best hidden by diversion. The biggest the agenda, the bigger the diversion.

So, it is a good time to start looking in other policy directions to check for something getting cooked.
It is very likely that the Iraq war was a diversion for rampant, unregulated fracking expansion and mortgage securitization and derivative scams. Whilst all attention was on smoking guns, the real players were smoking victory cigars.
What is it now? Keystone XL? Larry Summers? the Asian Partnership? Fukashima? Iran?
Put a tin foil hat on me, but I don't believe that a war crime during a civil war in a non-stragetic backwater like Syria is the real motivation for the latest round of war drumming.
