I'd better run for President before those other guys do.
And our first Republican contestant to declare his intention to run for U.S President in 2016 is Rep. Peter King. As of last Friday, he's confirmed to be in the race.

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) is running for president.
In a radio interview this week, the Republican lawmaker told a New Hampshire station that he was in the state “because right now I’m running for president,” according to The New York Daily News.
The visit was King’s second of four trips to the traditional home of the nation’s first presidential primary.
The announcement makes King the first Republican to officially declare their intentions to run for president in 2016.
Yes, Peter King is quite an interesting character. Just recently, he said President Obama is becoming more like a community organizer than a President of the United States with regards to the situation in Syria.
I kid you not, that's what he said. We have our own criticisms over Obama on foreign policy, the Middle East and Syria but seriously, what does President Obama's position on Syria have to do with community organizing?
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) chastised President Barack Obama for his handling of the situation in Syria, claiming the president is acting more like a "community organizer" than a president.

“I just wish the president had laid this out better. I wish he'd quit backing away from his own red line," King said Sunday during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press." "And I wish he was more of a commander in chief than a community organizer."
Congressman King is certainly one to be an expert on who is a proper commander in-chief. After all, he's a tool that basically rubber-stamped President George W. Bush's Iraq War from day one and a warmonger in general:

Voted NO on removing US armed forces from Afghanistan. (Mar 2011)
Voted NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq starting in 90 days. (May 2007)
Voted YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on approving removal of Saddam & valiant service of US troops. (Mar 2004)
Voted YES on authorizing military force in Iraq. (Oct 2002)
Voted NO on H Con Res 63 Iraq War Policy Resolution (Feb 2007)
Voted NO on HR 3159 Mandatory Troop Rest Periods Between Deployments to Iraq (Aug 2007)
Yeah, Congressman King is certainly supportive of the troops if he doesn't approve of mandatory troop rest periods in the stupidest war the U.S. has ever launched.
And he's certainly not going to win anyone in New York over with regards to these votes:

Voted NO on H Amdt 672 HR 1960: Authorizes Military Sexual Assault Victims to Decide who Determines Their Case (June 2013)
Voted NO Repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" After Military Review and Certification (May 2010)
You know you're going to be already toast in the GOP primaries in 2016 if you vote against an amendment that speaks to the heart of the issue which both Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and loony Senator Ted Cruz are working together on. I'm certain King won't even be able to win any Tea Party votes.
And of course, Peter King has gone on to have journalist Glenn Greenwald prosecuted regarding the situation with Edward Snowden and the NSA which Greenwald himself believes is ridiculous. Even CNN's Anderson Cooper saw no evidence King's assertions have any merit.
In the meantime, it may be evident that Peter King will be at some point setting up his campaign. Why don't we do ourselves a favor and work on defeating Congressman King for re-election in 2014 in the meantime? Here are the 2012 NY-02 Election Results:

Everyone, give it up to Congressman King!
*toasts* May he have a pleasant time in the 2016 GOP Primaries!
