Matt Bevin, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's tea party-aligned challenger for Kentucky's GOP Senate nomination,
says he knows Mitch McConnell will spend millions to win:
“This will be an expensive race,” Bevin conceded. “There isn’t an amount of money he can’t and won’t raise.”
But Bevin, who has money of his own, says he can keep pace:
Bevin, who could also at least partially self-fund, added that he’ll raise “what is needed to win this.”
Of course, whether Bevin can actually deliver on his promise is a completely different question, but whatever happens, he's going to deliver popcorn for everybody on the progressive side of the fence, because he's either going to spend what it takes to turn McConnell's renomination fight into an epic showdown on the right (complete with accusations from Bevin that McConnell
has surrendered on Obamacare) ... or he's going to fade with a whimper, turning a once promising campaign into a spectacular flameout for the tea party. Obviously, the former would probably be more entertaining than the latter, but whatever happens, it'll be hard to complain.
