Something stinks in here.
Well,
this is rich. If you've been paying attention to Virginia politics, you know that the state's attorney general and Republican nominee for governor, Ken Cuccinelli, has been dogged by scandal for taking $18,000 in gifts from Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams. That's the guy whose gifts to current Gov. Bob McDonnell landed him in the middle of a federal investigation.
So Cuccinelli apparently decided he could shake the stink of scandal if he gave all the money to a charity. But it's his choice of charity that highlights just how much of an asshole the guy really is.
Cuccinelli will donate the money to Crossover Healthcare Ministry, a Richmond-area free clinic. Crossover Ministry emphasizes on their website their clientele are primarily the working poor who are too poor to quality for Medicaid. Cuccinelli has repeatedly and vocally opposed extending Medicaid coverage under Obamacare to provide affordable and quality health care coverage to low income Virginians.
Yes, he's donating the money to an organization dedicated to helping the people he has worked directly to screw. Only a Republican.
