Several people have been shot at the Washington Navy Yard and the shooter is still at large. According to
MSNBC, seven people have been shot, including two police officers. Fortunately, reports NBC, there are no reported fatalities, despite the shootings.
The Washington Post reports the shooter is barricaded in a room, but NBC says the gunman is still at large. NBC says the shooter was armed with an AR-15.
We'll post updates as warranted.
7:03 AM PT: NBC now says the shooter may be among the seven shot and the shooter may be incapacitated. They are also now saying it's unclear what weapon he had other than it it was a handgun as well as a rifle and shotgun.
7:05 AM PT: Washington Post says the number of shot is 3 or 4, not the 7 reported by NBC.
7:06 AM PT: And now the DC NBC affiliate says 4 people have been killed, 8 injured, and that the shooter "is down." (Unclear whether he is included in the previous numbers.)
7:07 AM PT: Given the changing reports, I changed the original headline, which had been: "Seven shot at Washington Navy Yard; Police seek shooter"
7:11 AM PT:
Flights at Reagan had been held up due to #NavyYardShooting, but they are taking off again.

7:17 AM PT: Now Washington Post is reporting 10 wounded. NBC says 12. However, both NBC and Washington Post are saying authorities believe they have the shooter pinned down inside the building. NBC is now saying they do not believe the shooter has been wounded.
7:20 AM PT: I wrote above that NBC says 12 wounded; that's wrong. NBC says 8 wounded, and 4 killed, citing a senior official in the Naval Sea Systems Command, which is responsible for the shipyard.
7:26 AM PT: Washington Post is now reporting there were 3 shooters. NBC's Pete Williams says there's "no indication" of multiple shooters.
7:35 AM PT: Now NBC's Jim Miklaszewski says one shooter has been "cornered," but not taken into custody. Miklaszewski also says a search continues for possible other gunmen, but says that doesn't necessarily mean there are other gunmen.
8:18 AM PT: Now Miklaszewski says "there are at least two" shooters. And possibly more.
8:47 AM PT (Barbara Morrill): NBC's Pete Williams says it has been confirmed that the gunman is dead and cautions that reports of two or more shooters has not been verified.
9:15 AM PT:
