What with the holidays coming up, (I’m talking specifically about my birthday in October though others may be getting ready for Christmas or Chanukah) I thought it might be a good time to remind everyone of the Kos Katalogue.

I can give you a long list of why you should buy from there. You support the people on this blog, you save money on gas which helps out the planet…ok, well that’s kind of a short list but it’s a good one you have to admit.

One of the reasons I want to highlight shopping from the Kos Katalogue is the delightful packaging so many of the Kossacks employ.

When I buy something at a local store it’s usually stuffed into a plastic bag along with a 10 page receipt. Not exactly elegant, fun or exciting to open.

I wrote a diary a while back about the Katalogue and ended up ordering some items.
Check out below for some of the packaging you’ll get when you order items through the Kos Katalogue.

This is the packaging from Mixed Media:

Even at the post office they hadn't seen such cool packaging!

When more than one thing is in a box it's packaged this way.

Would you look at the cool bags and business cards?

And here's what was in all that packaging:

I call these "hammered". They change colors when you move.

These are called "Almost a Pair". They are so me!

This is a pair Peregrine Kate had made just for me. They are soooo cool!

This pair was a gift from Kevin as he knew I like to sleep in my earrings.

He sent me these also. They keep my earrings from coming halfway out in the middle of the night, poking me in the head and waking me up.

He does glass work as well. This is a cabinet knob. You can see his glass work here.

Mixed Media - Cards photo Mixedmediacards_zps63502a60.jpg
Oh yeah, and he makes cards too. Pretty damn cool cards.

I also ordered some stuff from Winglion

I had several very intense discussions about the need to hurry up and get the Woozle Pads into production. Sara insisted they needed to wait until they had proper tags made. (Which cost a big chunk of change.) Tags? We don't need no stinking tags I said, but as usual, Sara was right. The tags add a professional level to the product. The pads come in a bag with a label attached and a nice little card explaining how it's made and care instructions.

I also ordered a few new Pootie Pads. Here is my 16 year old cat Shades playing for the first time in forever! The Pootie Pads really inspire. My little Slivia looks on. Note the tag on the pad!
So, have I motivated you to shop from the Kos Katalogue? I hope so. You are supporting local artisans and craftspeople (rather than corporations) and getting a beautiful handmade product. I'm guessing you are going to be delighted with the fine art of the packaging as well.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
