To those of your who saw the link to my petition in my diary or in the comments and who took the time to sign. Thank You so much, I achieved the goal of MoveOn for 50 signatures and it only took 2 days! I appreciate the support. For anyone interested in signing, here is a link, [http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/congress-help-victims
I am still trying to move this idea forward in order to get mass shooting and terrorism victims health care coverage under Congress' plan as special dependents. I wanted to update you all of the types of things I have been doing. See details below for what I working on. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to get additional signatures.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Detailed list of what I've done so far after the squiggles.
There were multiple stories about the Boston brothers:
1. The one I cite in my petition, [http://thinkprogress.org/...]
2. Rawstory, [http://www.rawstory.com/...]
3. Addicting info, [http://www.addictinginfo.org/...]
4. Washington Post, [http://www.washingtonpost.com/...]
I have attempted to contact each publication and tried to contact each author directly. The only person to write back was Lenny Bernstein from the Washington Post. He says he has more stories coming up on this topic. I'm not sure if the idea behind the petition will get mentioned, but I hope so. I have also included a link to the petition in a comment for each of these stories.
I have also reached out to the Brady Campaign, Americans for Responsible Solutions, and other anti-gun violence efforts local to me such as the IL Council Against Handgun Violence. I've also posted comments in their Facebook posts asking for petition signers.
I have written to each of my members of Congress to ask that they support this idea.
I have posted the petition on my personal page and emailed requests for signatures.
I have posted the petition on TPM Prime.
Please let me know of any other ideas, suggestions, etc for getting this a wider audience.
Thank you!!
