I am not the most adroit driver on the DK site, and occasionally find myself heading the wrong way on a one-way street, or running a red light. Please make allowances for the short diary below, because I don't know exactly how else to communicate my present situation.
I was very pleased to be asked to join RKBA Law and Policy. Also was glad to be a part of House of Lights, Tree Climbers, and Friends of the Library.
Recently a dear long-time friend (who lived alone) suffered some kind of "spell" as we used to call it--hit his medic alert button and was transported to the hospital. Since then he spent several weeks in one hospital--was released on condition he not be alone--and lived at my house for a week. Then as he seemed much worse, I persuaded him to allow me to take him to the ER at the best hospital in town. They admitted him, administered all kinds of tests, and now he is in a rehab facility.
Since all this started I've visited Kos every day as usual, and find the site provides me with much needed "other concerns." (I read a wonderful motto once: "A change of trouble is just as good as a vacation.")
My friend still requires a great deal of time with daily visits, accompany to doctors' visits, and email bulletins to friends and out-of-state family--not to mention picking up his mail and dealing with his day-to-day household business, like paying the light bill.
I have totally ignored messages from RKBA Law and Policy, as well as postponed diaries that I was hoping to write for House of Lights, Tree Climbers, and Friends of the Library.
I'm not uninterested--I'm just stretched. Please consider me not AWOL (absent without leave) but AWL (absent with leave) for awhile.
