I can't help but remember the first time I encountered the Tea Party. It was a Town Hall Meeting on the ACA held by Rep. Joe Sestak at a church on Broad Street; my Dad happened to be in town, and so we went.
More below the squiggly on how the Republicans leading the govt. shutdown are failing even to properly act like shambling, mindless braineaters . . .
After listening to hours of nonsense spewing from these wild-eyed zealots who seemed to think Facts and Reason were some sort of nasty skin disease (but one not to be covered by insurance), my Dad just shook his head and said, "I haven't heard people talk this way since the John Birchers. This can't last."
He was right on the first and sadly wrong on the second. We were witnessing the rise of the Conservative Undead, Bizarro World version. They just don't know they don't have brains and accuse others of feeding on the country (e. g., people of color) when it is they who are sucking the country dry of resources and rational discourse. So they're even FAILING AT BEING ZOMBIES. Of course, as we know from Romero, proper zombies have to do with the righteous anger of the working class. It's zombie history repeated as farce.
