In the space of two weeks, two of the most prominent voices on the wingnut fringe have gone there and called for a coup d'etat against Obama. Namely, Judicial Watch founder Larry Klayman and New Apostolic Reformation leader Rick Joyner.
For the last year, Klayman has been stirring up talk of overthrowing the president. Well, in his WorldNutDaily column of September 20, Klayman took it a step further and called for Obama to be overthrown on November 19. Earlier this month, Klayman convened a "citizens' court" in Florida which "convicted" Obama of lying to election officials about his eligibility to be president and "sentenced" him to 10 years in prison. Klayman argues that since Barack Sr. was not an American citizen, Barack Jr. is not a "natural-born citizen." Unless Obama "surrenders" himself to the custody of "the citizens of the United States and Florida," Klayman calls for a march on the White House to bring an end to Obama's "Muslim, socialist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-white, pro-illegal immigrant, pro-radical gay and lesbian agenda."
Joyner--who is based just 20 minutes south of me in Fort Mill, South Carolina--got into the act yesterday. He claimed that since there's no chance at all for the right people to win office, nothing short of a military coup will save this country. This doesn't come as too much of a shock since Joyner is one of the leaders of an out-and-out fascist offshoot of the religious right that believes Jesus can't return unless the church takes over the world and puts down all "evildoers" who get in their way. But to my knowledge, this is the first time that Joyner has gone this far. People for the American Way got a clip.
So now we have two of the most prominent wingnuts demanding that Obama be overthrown. This is fascism, plain and simple.
