The Pennsylvania ACLU is going after Governor Tom Corbett's (R. PA) latest attempt to intrude on Pennsylvanians' privacy:
A few weeks ago, we told you about an effort by state Rep. Matt Baker to create a government-run database of Pennsylvanians' prescription medication data. A few days later, Gov. Corbett announced his support for such a plan.
The bill is now on the House floor. Tell your PA state rep to vote "NO" on the Corbett-Baker prescription surveillance plan:

Do you want the government collecting your information when you use prescription medications? Your prescription records – even for things as mild as medications to treat the flu – could be accessed by law enforcement without a search warrant.
The database would be stored online, where it would be at risk to potential hacking (which happened in Virginia in 2009). The data would be stored for at least six years, and could be stored indefinitely. Bureaucrats in Harrisburg would be empowered to identify potential addicts, without ever seeing a person face-to-face.
