Here is how the lame media should be handling these disingenuous GOP congressmen/women when they trot out the BS line about how the President and Dems aren't willing to come to the negotiation table and compromise on the government shutdown situation.

Repug:  The President won't work with us Repugs and come to the negotiating table to work out a compromise.  Neither Regugs nor Democrats want this government shutdown.  It's horrible for the American people and it needs to come to an end immediately.  We Repugs are simply asking to throw out the medical device tax portion of Obamacare, which the American people despise anyway.  Most likely the American don't have the first clue what the medical device tax is, but we're certain that on some subconscious level they absolutely hate it and want it gone.  But unfortunately Democrats are unwilling to compromise on this one little thing for the good of the country.

Lame Media Reporter:  OK Repug Congressman/woman (fill in blank), if both sides want an end to the government shutdown, and you say all you're asking from the Democrats is to compromise and throw out the medical device tax part of Obamacare, what exactly is it that Democrats are getting out of that "compromise"?  Because compromise by definition means both sides get something and/or give up something.

Repug:  They get opening up the government!

Lame Media Reporter:  But you said BOTH sides want that, so at best that means that Repugs would be getting two things (medical device tax out and government open) while Democrats are only getting one thing (government open).  How is that a compromise?

Repug:  (crickets)

Lame Media Reporter:  Congressman/woman?

Repug:  (crickets)

Lame Media Reporter:  OK.  In the spirit of true compromise, would you support a deal in which both sides get an open government, Democrats will vote to throw out the medical device tax from Obamacare, and Repugs will vote to pass the already-Senate-approved Immigration Reform bill?

Repug:  (crickets)

Lame Media Reporter:  Congressman/woman?

Repug:  (crickets)

Lame Media Reporter:  OK, then let's all just agree that you're completely full of shit and you're going get a big fucking ZERO out of this negotiation, and your Teahadists faction will yet again save Democrats from themselves in the 2014/2016 November elections.  Back to you in the studio, Bob.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
