Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), or "the joint speaker of the House" as Harry Reid calls him, argued Friday that Republicans have already offered Democrats a concession in their stand against reopening the government by demanding not a full repeal of Obamacare, but merely the defunding of President Barack Obama signature health law.

“The House of Representatives has repeatedly compromised already," said Cruz, who already who spoke against funding the law on the Senate floor for 21 hours earlier this month. "The House began -- it is the view of every Republican in this body, and indeed every Republican in the House, that Obamacare should be entirely and completely repealed. Nonetheless, the House started with a compromise of saying not repealing Obamacare but simply that it should be defunded.”

Well. Isn't that ... special.

It is the opinion of this blogger, and in fact every Kossack, that Ted Cruz should be sent back to Calgary and Canada threatened with nuclear annihilation if they permit him to return to the United States. However, I will compromise, and permit Senator Cruz to remain in the United States so long as he never again says a word in public.

Am I not magnanimous?

I am reminded of the negotiating techniques of the Mouth of Sauron. Give Sauron everything he wants, or Frodo dies slowly ... except, of course, Sauron didn't know where Frodo was at the time. Give Ted Cruz everything he wants, or America's economy dies slowly - except, of course, Ted Cruz isn't in charge of the House, or the Senate GOP caucus, or much of anything, really.

BTW, given that the first rule of Daily Kos etiquette is "Don't be a dick", I hereby request a preemptive banning of Ted Cruz from these hallowed Orange pages, since his every utterance, not to mention his demeanor, screams "DICK!".

So, may I be reassured that the user filters are good enough to prevent a Ted Cruz account?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
