Right-wing politicians in service
To plutocrats who would buy or steal
Everything we made or built or bought
With our debt or savings
Those plutocratic right-wingers plot
The demise of the American experiment
And the destruction of democracy
Or at least what’s still left of democracy
The plutocrats and their proxies in office
Care nothing for the country except
What they can steal
Just like the Dutch in South Africa
Or the Spanish in Latin America
Or any Europeans in any conquerable land
How does it feel now that those who
Screamed patriotism, but who never went
Done hoo dooed all of us again
As they rip the seams of the nation
Destroying the economy
Dismantling the government
Damning the dreams of healthcare
For all workers and children
Forcing more and more of us
Deeper and deeper into poverty
Till life is little more than survival
And we know we failed our kids
And our earth and one another
So we just begin to learn what
It was to mine gold for the men on horses
Or diamonds or to grow sugarcane
Or cotton or rice and not
The maize and beans our people ate.
