We want a vote!!!!

That should be the Democratic manta starting now until an up and down vote on a clean CR and debt limit increase is taken in the House of Representatives.

This Hastert Rule has to be unconstitutional.  Where is the ACLU when you need them?  Can’t we sue Boehner in Federal Court using the constitution as our rule of law?   I mean I can find nothing in the constitution that says you have to have a majority support from the majority party in order for a vote to come to the floor.  Where are the lawyers when you need them?

Dems need to work with moderate Republicans to come up with a bill that funds government through the 2014 election.   In the meantime, moderate Republicans that want a vote need to come together with Dems and Independents and do everything they can do demand that it come to a vote even if it doesn’t meet the Hastert rules requirements.

GOP strategy is obvious.   How many times did Boehner use the word conversation in recent interviews?  The line in the sand has been drawn.  No more conversations until a vote on a clean CR and a debt limit increase through 2014 is brought to the floor.

Everybody in America needs to send one single and focused message very loudly to Boehner and the GOP.    We want a vote.  You say you don’t have the votes to pass it. PROVE IT.  We want a vote.

When pundits ask questions about giving up something to the GOP, the answer should be NOT UNTIL WE HAVE A VOTE ON A CLEAN CR.

Say it 100 times, 1000 times, a million times.  Don’t say anything else until they allow a vote.  Eventually, everyone will be saying it.  Every pundit will be asking why not allow a vote?  The American people want an up and down vote, why won't you allow a vote?  If there aren't the votes to pass the bill, there should be nothing to worry about.

It’s time to stand solid until Boehner allows an up and down vote.  No vote, no conversation.  End of discussion.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
