Ted Cruz and company.
Rep. Devin Nunes is a man in the grips of the consequences of having a big mouth. Earlier today he said the Republican shutdown plan—which he has fully participated in—happened because he and his colleagues were
stupid enough to follow Ted Cruz. For some unfathomable reason (maybe because he's an idiot?), Nunes is still talking and still digging that hole he's standing in.
Nunes was one of the first of the "moderate" Republicans who came out as willing to vote for a clean continuing resolution to keep government open. Now he's insisting he never said any such thing and demanding that his name be removed from the list of Republican revolters. Except:
But HuffPost's Sabrina Siddiqui asked Nunes last Monday, hours before the shutdown began, whether he'd support a clean funding bill if it came down to it. His response: "Yeah." During the same exchange, Nunes told another reporter that he expects there's "more [Republicans] that would support it" as more time goes by.
Well, yeah, but:
"He had considered a clean CR before the shutdown, as an alternative to the shutdown," Langer said. "Since the shutdown occurred, he has supported GOP leadership and voted with them and with the House majority for all the CRs."
So now he's happy to be a lemming in a suicide vest? Okay, I think Nunes has settled any question about what he is: He's an idiot
and a liar.
