That is what our own woodtick did today. In the midst of a week of profound and utter loss, she thought of others. She thought of her Mojo Friday family. She thought of anotherdemocrat's tireless advocacy on behalf of those suffering with HIV and AIDS. She thought of the best possible way to honor the husband she loves so much who died unexpectedly this Wednesday.
She turned grief into hope for others. She asked all of us who wanted to do something, anything, to ease her sorrow, to let her know she was not alone, that we could do so by comforting others, by letting others know that they were not alone and forgotten.
Today, there is a wonderful chance to meaningfully touch hearts and lives. Anotherdemocrat explained it all in her diary earlier today.
AIDS Walk Austin is 10 days away, on Sunday the 20th. The Walk as a whole has raised about $84,000 of their $225,000 goal. Which is not close enough. Yeah, there's still 10 days, and I'm no mathematician, but that's a heck of a lot of money to raise per day.
This day, they have a challenge. If the Walk as a whole can raise $5,000 that will be matched. Come with me below the fancy longhorns (stole that from bastrop) and I'll tell you why you should donate.
This is what our woodtick wants us to help achieve.
This is how our woot has chosen to honor her beloved.
He always loved the fact that I had found a second home on D Kos. He loved the banter in MF and the true family of all of us here. He never signed on but heard me read so many of your comments. Your names were always names he remembered, your silly comments made him laugh. So this post game will not be sequestered, this game will not be shut down. I have come here to honor the man that I loved and that love will be forever.
There have been many of you that have asked what they can do,They want to help,I say a/d has a great fundraising going on that my hubby thought was so special and the years she has spent never faltering, she is my hero and my hubby was equally impressed ...he would have wanted to help
So my dear MF'ers if you wanted to know what you could do for me donate in my husbands name Steven C. LeVan
It wouldn't occur to woot to bring this to the entire site, to ask all of you. But I am. On behalf of woot and her husband, their daughter and grand daughters, their family. I am, on behalf of those in Austin struggling with HIV and AIDS and those who love them.
Let us help take sorrow and transform it into light and love, for their sakes and our own. We can kindle a light that shines in the darkness.
All blessings to woot and her family and to everyone who is or has struggled with the deep sorrows of the heart.
Peace and comfort, always.
