Not really a diary, just a thought that I hadn't seen voiced here yet. If it's okay for Republicans in the House to change the rules willy-nilly to fit their legislative agenda, why can't (or won't) the Senate change the filibuster rules? Kind of hard for Republicans to protest (well, not really. Very easy for them actually) about the Senate changing its rules in the middle of a session when the House did it. The Senate should do away with the filibuster entirely while the House holds a clean CR hostage to Boehner or Cantor's whims. Want the Senate to allow a filibuster again? Change the House rule that prohibits anybody but the Speaker or his designee from bringing to the floor a vote on a continuing resolution. And maybe if you're nice, we'll allow limited filibusters in the future. Republicans aren't the only one who can take hostages.
