The much-desired death-spiral of the GOP has taken another bizarre turn. According to The New York Post:
Increasingly desperate New York Republicans, seeking the political equivalent of a Hail Mary pass, are trying to get Donald Trump to run against Gov. Cuomo next year, The Post has learned.
They’re seeking to make the case that while Trump is only an apprentice politician, he’s the only Republican on the horizon who has the name recognition, guts and money to tell Cuomo, “You’re fired!”
A memo circulated by Rochester Assemblyman Bill Nojay and backed by
Ed Cox, state GOP Chairman and son-in-law of Richard M. Nixon, asserts:
“There is only one prospective candidate who could run on the GOP line and win against Cuomo in 2014 — Donald Trump..."
“In many respects, Trump is not considered a Republican — he is his own brand, an almost iconic figure of Rockefellerian proportions.
“This will benefit him because many people who could never bring themselves to vote for a Republican would vote for Trump as Trump.”
Please, NY GOP...you
must make this happen. Because this is
exactly what New York needs: the only man in history to fail in the casino business.
And that thing that lives on top of The Donald's head? You know, that walnut-whip chinchilla? That could be his running mate. Winning!
You know it makes sense.
