It is hard for me to understand why people of my United States of America have become so selfish and greedy.

Why are more fortunate folks refusing to help or understand those less fortunate than themselves?

In my day, poverty was something we wanted to eradicate!  Now it seems we want to look away and ignore it!

What happened to the "land of opportunity"?

Why would people want to get rid of government?

Let's start with "land of opportunity."  Who has a suggestion for a way to give a hand up to those, who are born less fortunate?

Perhaps the schools, can help as they see many children everyday!  It seems if teachers really knew their children they could find ways to encourage them, to make a good life for themselves, by a school wide system of encouragement.

As a an elementary school teacher, I always thought we should teach the "whole child,"
not just the academic part!

Wouldn't it be nice if we worked together with parents and children to give them every bit of help and positive encouragement that we can.

Every community also has the responsibility to share in the raising of their children, to promote, the well being of their families.

Why would we go without government, as we need laws.  The system built by our forefathers has worked over 200 years, why dispense with it now?  That is why it is crazy to shut down the government, an act against it's people, not those they are mad at!

This whole business of taking away from the people in the United States, is just not the American way!  A hand up and promoting opportunity is way to make our country great again!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
